Lord Murugan, also known as Kadira Divya Raja, is the most venerated God of all the major communities in Sri Lanka, South India and Malaysia. God Katharagama (Murugan) is reputed to be the only deity to have visited Sri Lanka. It is also known that a beautiful young maiden living in the vicinity of Katharagama was taken in marriage by Lord Murugan. The cinema creation in the name of Kadira Divyaraja relates the wondrous tale of love between this fair maiden and Lord Murugan. In the history of the Sinhala cinema, this is the first time a tale relating to a God has been made into cinematic creation.
